Oneonta Osteopathy

Welcome to my website, I'm Stanley Fox DO, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

I have been practicing in Otsego/Delaware counties for 35 years as a licensed New York State physician. I spent thirty years practicing family medicine, while incorporating osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) as part of my practice. Five years ago I opened my own practice which is limited to OMT. My background and experience as a physician allows me to develop a broad and deep approach to patients' health.

My patients seek OMT because of issues of pain, stiffness, limited mobility, recovery from injury, accidents, or a desire to avoid surgery and other undesirable medical interventions. I do not prescribe medications for treatment but willingly collaborate with local providers when helpful.

My approach is to tend to a whole person’s physical needs, stresses, and fears. I combine a direct hands-on treatment in harmony with the patient's own healing powers. This subtle form of treatment helps to modulate, restore, and nurture the health of the patient.

My practice is limited to adolescents and adults of any age. I do not accept any insurances however my office charges are reasonable.

Prospective patients are welcome to contact me and explore whether osteopathic treatments might be of benefit.

My office is in Oneonta, 2 blocks from I-88 exit 14 (Lower Main Street )

What is OMT?

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a hands-on medical approach used by licensed Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) to diagnose, treat, and prevent injury or illness by focusing on the relationship between the body's structure and function

OMT Core Philosophy and Principles:

  • Whole-Person Care: Focuses on the connection between body, mind, and spirit rather than just isolated symptoms.

  • Body Self-Healing: Emphasizes wellness, prevention, and the body's natural tendency to recover and maintain health.

  • Structure and Function: Recognizes that the body's physical structure (bones, muscles, and nerves) directly impacts its overall function.
